The Trust Signals That Work
1. Free Returns / Easy Returns
The single highest-impact trust signal. If you offer returns, say so at the point of purchase — not buried in a policy page.
2. Shipping Speed
“Ships in 1–2 business days” gives buyers a concrete expectation. Vague shipping information kills conversions.
3. Secure Checkout Indicator
A lock icon with “Secure checkout” reassures buyers — even though every Shopify store already uses SSL.
4. Satisfaction Guarantee
Shifts risk from buyer to seller. If you stand behind your product, say it where the buying decision happens.
5. Payment Icons
Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Shop Pay near the purchase button — not buried in the footer.
How to Implement
Open Edit Code, find your product form section. After the Add to Cart button, add a trust bar snippet. For a clean approach, create snippets/trust-signals.liquid and include it with {%- render 'trust-signals' -%}.
What NOT to Do
- Fake urgency timers: “Only 2 left!” counters that reset every page load. Buyers notice.
- Fake “X people viewing” counters: One viral tweet about fake scarcity does more damage than the conversion lift was worth.
- Trust badges from unknown companies: “Verified by TrustShieldPro” raises questions, not confidence. Stick to plain-English policy statements.
